Q. What time should I arrive for my flight?
A. You should arrive one (1) hour and 15 minutes before your scheduled flight.
Q. What are the airport hours?
A. The airport is open at 4:30am and closes 30-minutes after the last arrival.
Q. How should I pack before my flight?
A. Do not pack wrapped gifts and do not bring wrapped gifts to the checkpoint. Wrap on arrival or ship your gifts prior to your departure. TSA may have to unwrap packages for security reasons. Put all undeveloped film and cameras with film in your carry-on baggage. Checked baggage screening equipment will damage undeveloped film. Declare firearms & ammunition to your airline and place it in your checked baggage. If you wish to lock your baggage, use a TSA recognized lock.
Q. How much does it cost to park in the parking lot?
A. Short-term parking is $.50 per half-hour not to exceed $10 per calendar day. Long-term is $.50 per hour not to exceed $6 per calendar day.
Q. What should I do if my luggage does not arrive the same time I do?
A. You should file a claim with the airline that you arrived on call the USAir Express/Baggage call center at 1-800-371-4771 or 1-866-523-5333 or Delta Lost Luggage 1-800-325-8224.
Q. When I arrive into New Bern, are there any taxi service or rental car agencies?
A. Yes, there is a taxi service at the airport, Cherry Cab Services, and rental car agencies, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Hertz and National. All agencies are located near the baggage claim area.
Q. What items should NEVER be placed in checked baggage?
A. There are a number of items that are prohibited in checked baggage, such as lighters, matches, explosive material and flammable items. Place valuables such as jewelry, cash, and electronics in carry-on baggage only. Tape your business card to the bottom of your laptop. Never pack expensive jewelry, laptops or cash in checked luggage.
Q. What are some examples of permitted carry-on items?
A. Cuticle cutters, eyeglass repair tools, nail clippers, diabetes-related supplies/equipment, nitroglycerine pills and prosthetic device tools and appliances. Liquids, creams, gels, and/or aerosols in containers of 3oz capacity or less are permitted in a clear, transparent, resealable quart size plastic bag.
Q. What are some examples of prohibited carry-on items?
A. Box cutters, knives, razor type blades, scissors with pointed tips, bows and arrows, golf clubs, pool cues, guns, ammunition, drills, screwdrivers, tools, torch lighters, lighter fluids.
Q. What should I do if I have a medical device surgically implanted?
A. Check with your doctor prior to traveling to determine if it is safe for you to go through the metal detector or be handwanded. If your doctor indicates that you should not go through the metal detector or be handwanded, ask the screener for a pat-down inspection instead.
Q. What are the requirements for minors traveling?
A. Customers under the age of 18 are not required to present ID for domestic U.S. travel Identification from the responsible adult will be accepted on behalf of the minor(s) but birth certificates, school ID with photo or a social security card are accepted. It is recommended that minors traveling alone have at least two (2) of these forms of identification.
Q. I have medication that I must travel with. Can I carry them on the plane?
A. Yes, it is recommended that if you have to travel with medication that you carry them on the plane with you in case your luggage does not arrive with you at the same time.
